It is not just obvious contact sports like League, Union, AFL, Boxing, or hockey that can result in trauma to your mouth and teeth. There are sports that contact is common such as netball, touch football, skateboarding that also carry a risk of accidental collision. A custom-made mouthguard can help protect not only your teeth but your facial bones as it helps absorb the shock experienced by the impact of a damaging blow to help minimize oral and facial injuries. Hunter Family Dentistry provides sports dentistry services focusing on the importance of preventative dentistry in protecting your mouth with a quality fitted mouthguard. Whilst over the counter mouth guards can be purchased in Chemists/Sports Stores they do not offer the same quality or custom fit protection that a custom-made mouthguard can give you. Please contact Hunter Family Dentistry for your initial first appointment, where we will take your impression and have your mouthguard made with a choice of colours to choose from. When your mouthguard arrives, we will make sure it fits you perfectly. To keep your mouthguard in tip top working order, you will need to keep it out of the sun, wash it in cold water ONLY after use and keep on the supplied model cast in your mouthguard container. Custom mouth guards are recommended by the Australian Dental Association (ADA) to anyone who is engaged in contact sports.
